INTERCLUB CROSS COUNTRY SERIES

 

The Interclub Cross Country Series is contested by 5 local running clubs consisting of Retford AC, Worksop Harriers, Clowne Road Runners, Handsworth Roadhogs and Killamarsh Kestrels. Each club hosts their own race and are between 5 and 6 miles long each. It only costs £10 to compete in this series and is a fully inclusive to members of all abilities. Teams are made up of upto 17 men and  17 ladies. The first 7 finishers  of each team are 'counters' and have their finishing positions added together to give a team total, then the next 10 finishers each have 1 point deducted from the teams total. The aim is to accumulate the least amount of points in order to  win. Each team can have no more than 2x 2nd claim runners and the first scoring 7 should be made up of at least 3 Vets (35 for women and 40 for me). Categories are split into Mens, Ladies and overall, which is mens and ladies points totals added together.

A huge congratulations go out to the ladies team, you all did amazing, turning out in big numbers each week. That's 3 Ladies title wins in a row which is a remarkable achievement. Its safe to say that this has been one of the best years for participation with an incredible turnout for each event. Well done to all our newer members who took part too, the XC series isn't an easy set of races for some of your first for the club and it was a bumper year for the mud too. Attention now turns to some of our other race series, hope to see you all taking part in some of them.
