Race Day Instructions will be emailed to all entrants who provided us with an email address over the next couple of days. If you have entered but do not receive these instructions by midday on Thursday 2nd March, please email us asap at
It is essential that you review the information which is emailed through to you (included below) and let us know if any of the information we have for you is incorrect. Please email us at if any of the information we have is incorrect, or if you have any other queries (which are not covered in the race day instructions).

Dear Runner,

Thank you for entering this event. We hope your training has gone well and that you are looking forward to taking part.
Race day instructions are available here ( These instructions include important safety information as well as a map of the course route and details on road closures.
Note that whilst the majority of the course route is closed to traffic, some parts of the course have only partial road closures; with other parts fully open to traffic therefore it is important that you read this information.

This email is verification of your entry.

All Race Numbers (which will include attached timing chips) will need to be collected on the day. Please note that these WILL NOT be sent out ahead of the day and will need to be collected on race day from the race number collection point in the sports hall at Retford Oaks which will open from 07.30am. Race numbers must be collected by 09.30am. Your Race Number (with an attached timing chip) will be provided to you at registration.

A provisional start list for the Half Marathon (a-z) is available here ( Please check this list to ensure we have all your details correct, including your first name, surname, gender, t-shirt size, and UKA affiliated club (if applicable). Please also check to see if you are registered for the Nottinghamshire County Championships as part of the race. If any of these details are incorrect, please reply to this email before Thursday 2nd March to advise us of the error, so that we have time to make the correction before the race list goes to our timing provider. If you are not entered into the Notts County Championships as part of the race, and you should be entered, please confirm whether you are eligible through birth or residence in Nottinghamshire. Note that we have not yet allocated race numbers. These will be allocated approximately 1 week ahead of the race. A list of allocated race numbers will then by emailed out to entrants.

We are delighted to advise that we have had a record number of entries again this year and all 1,200 places in the Retford Half Marathon sold out in January. This means that there will be no “on the day” entries for the Half Marathon this year.

Unfortunately we are now beyond the point where we are able to accept race transfers (and we are not able to offer deferrals), however if you are definitely unable to take part we would be grateful if you could let us know via the mailbox so we can update our start lists (

Whilst we have over 70 club members and other volunteers already signed up to help on the day, we still need a few more marshals and helpers on the drinks stations. If you can help, or have any friends and family coming to watch who may be able to help please email this mailbox ( with contact details.

We do have over 100 places still available in the Fun Run. On the day registration for the Fun Run will open at 07.30am and close at 09.30am but we would encourage fun runners to register as early as possible in case we run out of places. If you have any friends/family planning to participate in the Fun Run we would be grateful if they could complete the Fun Run Entry form available here (, ahead of the day and bring it with them to save time on the day. Please cascade this message to anyone who is planning to enter the Fun Run on the day. (Note that the Fun Run is £3 to enter and all entrants must complete an entry form and complete the medical information of the back of their race numbers which will be provided at the Fun Run registration desk).

Further information on the event is included on our event Facebook page and on the event page on the Retford A.C. website
For any other queries please contact us through this mailbox ( and we’ll respond as soon as we are able to. (Please do not contact us through the contact form on the website or the generic Retford AC email address)

In addition to the commemorative technical t-shirt each Half Marathon finisher will receive, trophies and prizes will be awarded for the first three Male and first three Female finishers, and in the usual Male and Female Veteran Categories, and trophies will also be awarded for men’s and ladies team winners. We also have a number of spot prizes kindly provided by a number of local businesses. Awards will also be presented for the winners of the Notts AAA Half Marathon County Championship competition which is being held as part of the race. Further details are included in the race day instructions.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our event charity partners, Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, and YoungMinds, and all our sponsors, event partners and other organisations that have provided prizes, including our main sponsors Jones & Co Solicitors and East Midlands Running Centre.
