We look forward to welcoming you back to West Burton

Retford Times Online have got a nice report of the race:…/story-298487…/story.html
Pity they omitted to mention the 3rd Man home who was Tom Humphries from Gainsborough and Morton Striders in a time of 40:29

Many thanks to everyone who turned up and helped to make the 3rd Power Surge races such a resounding success. Creating a new course was not without it's challenges but a small dedicated team of volunteers made it happen. Then there were all the wonderful marshals and helpers from Retford AC and from North Wheatley Primary School which will benefit from all the entry fees this year.
Of course there would be no races without the competitors who have described the 10k as tough but fabulous :-) and for me the wonderful fun runners who can be truly proud as our celebrity presenter Nicky Spinks described it as "really hard".
Here are the provisional results for both races which includes times for the 10k but not for the fun run as our timekeeper's fingers were too cold to operate the stop watch.
We hope to see you next year and if you have any feedback (good or bad) then please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Grateful thanks from everyone on the organising team.

The course has now been marked out and the forecast looks promising but there are some potholes and deep puddles on the first 1km track so there may be some splashing!!

The route for the 2016 EDF Energy Power Surge is now confirmed as per the attached file . Access to the event centre is from Rampton village and there will be marshals at the church to direct you down behind the power station. The event village will be close to the Finish with a marquee, refreshment van and school PTA stand. This is a largely off road 10k with great river bank running and providing views of Torksey Castle across the river and the newly refurbished Torksey Bridge.  the start of the race is approximately 1km from Registration so please allow enough time to collect your number and then jog to the start.

The third EDF Energy Power Surge run will be held from Cottam Power Station on Sunday 23rd October.  All proceeds this year will be donated to the local primary school at North Wheatley who are hoping to be able to buy new playground equipment for the children.  Online entries are now open at:

and a postal entry form can be found here

We look forward to welcoming you to Cottam Power Station.

EDF Energy and Retford AC and Running Club would like to thank everybody who turned out in the clag on Sunday to make the second Power Surge 10k a great success.  Results can be found here

The 10k race was won by Richard Hayes from Hallamshire Harriers who has a very distinctive Mohican hairstyle and is currently raising money for charity by completing 52 races in a year.  You can read his personal blog of the race at  First lady was Fiona Kesteven from Totley AC.  Twenty Retford athletes turned out to claim their 250 Fell/Trail points for the Grand Prix and Chris Pepper was forst man home in 6th place in a time of 39:26.  New lady member Katie Hayes was first female home for Retford in 29th place and third lady overall in a time of 45:52.

The fun run was very popular and many Danum Harriers ran in fancy dress with a Halloween theme.  EDF Energy provided goody bags to all the finishers who also took away a commerorative medal.  Lots of photos are available on the Power Surge facebook page

We hope to see you all next year and thanks again from The Organising Team
